SAS submitted this proposal to the International Private Character Open Competition for the Selection of Architectural Design of the new headquarters of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama. We envisioned a growing museum for Panama, an open civic platform that integrates the architecture, city, landscape, and public life.

A clear vertical sequence organizes the project: city - plaza - galleries - roof; a continuous experience linking public life and art.

The ground level is permeable and green, extending the urban fabric and maximizing access, interaction, and visibility. The museum begins as a public space. Above, flexible gallery plates enable curatorial freedom within controlled environmental conditions.

A modular envelope system allows multiple configurations—clear glazing for daylighted galleries, translucent panels for diffused light, or opaque stone (e.g. travertine) for fully controlled conditions—supporting a range from immersive media to sensitive artworks.

the project culminates in a rooftop event plaza with panoramic views, reinforcing the museum as a civic landmark.
